GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Curriculum/Assessment Coordinator (CAC) shall report directly to the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy; will be responsible for the administration of those functions assigned by the Executive Director; and will play an essential role in the implementation and development of curriculum and assessment; and perform specialized duties in the area of training and staff development including the professional development of Academy Instructors at the Municipal Police Academy, State Police Academy, and the Providence Police Academy.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: 
<br>

1.	Perform an administrative staff function for the Executive Director. 
<br>

<br>
2.	Develop action plans and review and evaluate curriculum and training courses.
<br>

3.	Meet with all Academy instructors to obtain lesson plans, instructional notes, testing instruments, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
<br>

<br>
4.	Review and/or write lesson plans for topics taught at the Academy in accordance with learning objectives identified in a recently completed statewide job task analysis.
<br>

<br>
5.	Write assessment instruments, i.e. examinations, quizzes, practical exercises, etc., in accordance with learning objectives identified in a recently completed statewide job task analysis.

6.	Organize, develop, and conduct professional development training for all Academy instructors and staff i.e., lesson plans, assessment, etc.
<br>

7.	Develop a comprehensive “lesson plan manual” for all instructed topics.
<br>

8.	Perform all work as directed by the Executive Director of the Municipal Police Academy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
<br>

<br>
1.	A Bachelor’s Degree in an education or criminal justice related field is required with a Master’s Degree and experience in law enforcement training programs preferred but not required.
<br>

<br>
2.	Considerable knowledge of principles and techniques of training and staff development, considerable knowledge of educational methods and techniques; knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes and regulations, and demonstrated experience in researching, developing, and drafting lesson plans.
<br>

<br>
3.	Considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable ability to assess training needs and determine objectives.

4.	Must possess strong computer skills including previous demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.  Microsoft Access, Microsoft Publisher, a plus.

The mission of the Office of Minority Health is to facilitate access to health information, education and risk reduction activities for racial and ethnic minority communities and to develop policies, plans and tracking systems for ensuring that the needs of these communities are integrated and addressed within all HEALTH programs.  The Office of Minority Health is focused on achieving two primary outcomes- the elimination of racial and ethnic health disparities and the assurance that racial and ethnic minority populations have equal access to high quality health services.   <br>

The Epidemiologist/Evaluator will perform and advise evaluation activities and epidemiologic analyses of all programs of the OMH and may also be asked to assist in activities Health Disparities & Access to Care Team with greatest emphasis on the programs of the OMH.  In addition to collaborative projects with state agencies and academic institutions, the OMH funds community based organizations to perform assessments and provide direct services to racial and ethnic minority communities.  The Program Evaluation Specialist/Assistant Epidemiologist will be expected to provide epidemiologic and evaluation services and expertise for such projects.<br>

Major Responsibility:  Program Evaluation<br>
1)	Collaborate with federal, New England regional, state program staff and community grantees on identifying performance indicators of interest related to health disparities.<br>
2)	Develop data and program systems to track and report on performance indicators for the HD&AC programs, especially within the OMH.<br>
3)	Respond to data inquiries from internal and external partners.<br>
4)	Refine data and program systems on an annual basis based on performance indicators in program work plans.<br>
5)	Provide ongoing technical assistance and training for grantees on evaluation of community-based interventions.<br>
6)	Develop tools to aide evaluations performed by OMH grantees.<br>
7)	Prepare evaluation reports to include in state plans and grant/funding proposals.<br>

Qualifications<br>
•	Master’s degree in Public Health or experience that is substantially equivalent.<br>
•	Work experience in SAS statistical software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access<br>
•	Knowledge and experience of public health surveillance programs and databases (e.g. BRFSS, Vital Records, Cancer Registry, Hospital Discharge Data, etc.).<br>
•	Experience in epidemiologic methods and public health surveillance.  <br>
•	Experience in program evaluation and performance measurement.<br>
•	Ability to work independently, contribute to team projects, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.<br>
•	Effective verbal and written communication skills.<br>
•	Experience in data management desired.<br>
•	Experience providing training and technical assistance desired.<br>
•	Grantwriting experience desired. <br>
•	Previous experience in minority health preferred. <br>
