The Providence After School Alliance (PASA) is a citywide initiative working to build a system to build and support quality after-school opportunities for Providence youth. PASA is working with three community partners to hire part-time AfterZone Youth Engagement Specialists to help support quality middle school after-school programs for middle school youth throughout Providence. <br>

AfterZones are “campuses” of after-school activities in schools and community locations throughout Providence that provide middle school youth with ongoing opportunities in arts, sports, and skills-building activities. Youth Engagement Specialist Responsibilities <br>

Youth engagement specialists report directly to the respective AfterZone Site Coordinator and work collaboratively with each middle school’s after-school liaison, and the AfterZone Manager. The youth engagement specialists will also work with staff from the agency managing the individual AfterZone site and the staff of the Providence After School Alliance during program activities, orientation, training, and other capacity-building activities. Under the direction of the site supervisor, responsibilities of Youth Engagement Specialist’s include: <br>
•assisting with all aspects of after school program set-up and clean-up <br>
•printing and organizing attendance sheets and other data as well as helping with registration materials and mailings <br>
•directing the flow of student traffic and organizing student transportation (including monitoring youth on buses/vans) <br>
•aiding in the snack distribution <br>
•communicating via phone and written messages with parents and families <br>
•attending monthly program partner meetings <br>
•facilitating recruitment and special events <br>
•registering students and updating data on the program’s online database <br>

Required qualifications: <br>
•Desire to work with middle school youth in a positive youth development atmosphere; <br>
•Creativity, patience, a good work ethic, and a sense of humor; <br>

Philosophy of Service:  The Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties   provides safety, advocacy, support, information, referral and follow-up services to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault or to persons at risk for domestic violence.  We do this through comprehensive advocacy, support and prevention activities that empower victims, families, and those at risk for family violence to reach goal oriented outcomes.  These outcomes are safety, emotional stability to work on practical goals, the practical supports to build self-sufficient lives for themselves and their children.  These are key outcomes upon which the work of WRC advocates to be measured. <br>
Specifics<br>
Overnight residential advocate provides leadership for safe home residents and provides after-hours overnight on-site support and first-respondent resolution to requests for support from safe home residents (women & children) and via the 24-hour hotline system.<br>
Advocate will model a professional relationship with the safe home residents and maintain strong ethical boundaries.<br>
This position is needed for Monday thru Friday 9 pm until 8 am.<br>

Domestic Violence Shelter is seeking an overnight Residential Assistant advocate.<br>

PHILOSOPHY OF SERVICE: <br>
<br>
	The Women’s Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties provides safety, advocacy, support, information, referral and follow-up services to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault or persons at risk for domestic violence. We do this through comprehensive advocacy, support and prevention activities that empower victims, families, and those at risk for family violence to reach goal- oriented outcomes. These outcomes are safety, emotional stability to work on practical goals, and the practical supports to build self-sufficient lives for themselves and their children. These are the key outcomes upon which the work of Women’s Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties advocates will be measured.<br>

SPECIFIC DUTIES:<br>
-	Maintain confidentiality of residents and safe home location with caution.  <br>
-	Fill in hours when regular staff not able to come in for their shift<br>
-	Knowledge of individual and family dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse<br>
-	Provide programs, activities, support and advocacy to the children.<br>
-	Work as a team member with other staff and volunteers.<br>
-	Serve as a role model while maintaining professional boundaries in relationships with residents.<br>
-	Answer the 24 hour hotline<br>
-	Constant contact and interaction with the women & children.. <br>
-	Monitor and enforce curfew schedule..<br>
-	Maintain the staff areas clean <br>
-	Organize items in their designated area. Toiletries, food pantry, clothing, house supplies.<br>

They will develop a “housing bank” or apartments/housing units suitable for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program participants. Other duties include: provide initial inspections to ensure compliance with HUD safety standards for housing; become a licensed housing inspector; attend lease signings; act as advocate for client; coordinate moving assistance and complete reports and database information. The Housing Locater will also coordinate with the Housing Advocate to offer incentives to participating landlords and remediate landlord tenant issues. The successful candidate has the ability to work with homeless and marginalized populations, has knowledge of the neighborhoods where housing is located and knowledge of housing/building codes and safety standards for rental housing. QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in social work related field or significant residential/ childcare experience required, high school diploma required. The capabilities to implement appropriate child management techniques, which may include the use of passive physical restraint.   Excellent communication skills needed, requires current driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance.<br>

• 1-3 years experience as the leader of an organization with a demonstrated record of accomplishments in creating and implementing sustained growth strategies in a nonprofit or a corporate environment or equivalent experience. <br>
• A history of successful fundraising, including grant writing, special events, annual and major gift programs and planned giving. <br>
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain corporate and community relationships <br>
• Community relations and public speaking skills, including an ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people. <br>

<description><![CDATA[Assume overall shift responsibilities working with females - ages 12-16 years. Provide a therapeutic environment to promote the physical and behavioral health of each resident. Assist in developing life skills; work as a part of a therapeutic team to establish open communications and support among co-workers. Plan and coordinate services with Program Manager and Residential Social Worker. The House Manager is directly responsible for the supervision of clients and the coordination and execution of their treatment plans as directed. Due to the nature of the work and client needs, the House Manager is considered a “direct care position.” This position is a “live-in” position where employees work for 3½ days straight-including sleeping for overnights.  The shifts are Wed 8:00AM through Sat 6PM or Sat 6PM through Wed 11:00AM.  A Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related field is required; experience in working in Child Welfare preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

•	Maintains a positive environment for both residents and staff<br>
•	Meet daily tasks of household management: menu planning and preparation, housekeeping (cleanliness and safety), grocery shopping, sleeping arrangements, etc.<br>
•	Service and monitor recreational/educational activities within the shelter or out in the community.<br>
•	Oversee and monitor the resident’s completion of daily chores and use of telephone in accordance with residential rules.<br>
•	Maintain appropriate program records, reports, logs and/or data as required.<br>
•	Establish and maintain a positive professional relationship with other social service providers, community trades people, neighbors and volunteers who affect the daily operation of the shelter and adolescents placed there.<br>
•	Transport residents to appointments as required and to obtain appropriate documentation/information as necessary.<br>
•	Attend staff meetings, in-service training/workshops, or any special meeting required.<br>
•	Provide emergency or crisis intervention techniques, such as passive physical restraint, when necessary.<br>

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in social work related field or significant residential/childcare experience required. Capabilities to implement appropriate child management techniques, which may include use of passive physical restraint.   Excellent communication skills. Hours:  24 hours per week (Tues – Thurs)<br>

Broad Function:  Provide the necessary care in maintaining the health of all animals received by the League.  Select appropriate animals and prepare them for surgery.  Assist in the selection, health exam, anesthesia, preparation, recovery and discharge of animals in surgery.  Maintain pertinent computer records. <br>
<br>
Authority:<br>
Reports to the Director of Animal Welfare, works under the direction of the veterinary staff, and has a staff relationship with all other League personnel and volunteers.<br>
<br>
<br>
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:<br>
•	Select and schedule animals for surgery.  Provide vaccinations and various health tests as necessary.<br>
•	Learn and use proper animal restraint, handling, and lifting techniques to ensure animal, veterinarian and personal safety.<br>
•	Learn and prepare various methods of anesthesia.<br>
•	Prepare animals for surgery by providing aseptic surgical site, intubation, and constant monitoring of animals during sedation.<br>
•	Maintain and monitor proper anesthesia and oxygen levels during surgery.<br>
•	Monitor animal heart and respiratory rate during surgery.<br>
•	Ability to assist the veterinarian in all surgical procedures when necessary.<br>
•	Ability to handle stressful and emergency situations in a calm and collected manner.<br>
•	Ability to think and react quickly.<br>
•	Recover animals in a warm environment; monitor for regurgitation, aspiration, respiration, hemorrhage, and other medical issues.<br>
•	Post surgery exam and discharge of animals from surgery.<br>

Qualifications:<br>
•	High school graduate or equivalent.  Some college preferred. Surgical Veterinary Technician experience required.<br>
•	Good verbal and written communication skills<br>
•	Working knowledge of domestic animals (dogs, cats and other small animals), including behavior, handling and health.<br>

<description><![CDATA[The Providence After School Alliance (PASA) is an initiative spearheaded by the Mayor of Providence to develop a public/private after-school system for the children, youth and families of the city with an initial focus on middle school age youth. PASA’s mission is to expand and improve after-school opportunities for the youth of Providence by building a lasting system of after-school supports.  As an alliance of after school providers, PASA works in partnership with public and private sector after-school providers, volunteers, youth and parents to invest time, talent, and funds to a unique community collaborative called an “AfterZone” —  a “campus” of after-school opportunities for middle school youth in target neighborhoods in Providence. The three AfterZones citywide are designed to deliver more, higher quality after-school programs to middle school age youth through collaboration among after-school providers, other community partners and stakeholders.  <br>

In order to sustain this growing system, PASA has received money from the Wallace Foundation to invest in a significant capacity building strategy, both internally and for its critical partners in the AfterZones.  PASA is seeking a Manager of Capacity Building to oversee this strategy.  This individual will work in partnership with PASA’s senior management team and several of the organization’s key partners to assess organizational strengths and areas for growth; identify a sustainability plan for the system; develop a communications strategy; and coordinate a team of consultants to provide support for PASA and its partners.  <br>

Job Responsibilities<br>
• Work with PASA’s Executive Director and senior management team to develop and implement a strategy for building PASA’s internal capacity as well as the capacity of its key partners in the AfterZones. <br>
• Identify, hire, and manage team of consultants to support PASA’s capacity building efforts as well as work with community partners.<br>
• Work with PASA’s key partners to conduct capacity assessments and identify areas for growth and support.<br>
• Assist PASA in developing strategic funding and communications plan<br>
• Develop and administer a process for administering small grants to key partners for capacity building.<br>
<br>
Required Skills<br>
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.<br>
• At least 5 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with at least two at a senior management level<br>
• Ability to establish trust and build strong relationships<br>
• Ability to work with multiple partners. Strategic and community planning experience a plus.<br>
• Self-starter experienced with developing new initiatives, plans and policies.<br>
• Strong understanding of nonprofit/organizational management including budgeting, human resources, facilities, and IT infrastructure.<br>
• Ability to use data to drive decision making and planning<br>
• Experience with funding/development planning and communications/PR planning strongly desired<br>

PASA is working with three community partners to hire part-time AfterZone Youth Engagement Specialists to help support quality middle school after-school programs for middle school youth throughout Providence. <br>

AfterZones are “campuses” of after-school activities in schools and community locations throughout Providence that provide middle school youth with ongoing opportunities in arts, sports, and skills-building activities. Youth Engagement Specialist Responsibilities <br>

Youth engagement specialists report directly to the respective AfterZone Site Coordinator and work collaboratively with each middle school’s after-school liaison, and the AfterZone Manager. The youth engagement specialists will also work with staff from the agency managing the individual AfterZone site and the staff of the Providence After School Alliance during program activities, orientation, training, and other capacity-building activities. Under the direction of the site supervisor, responsibilities of Youth Engagement Specialist’s include: <br>
•assisting with all aspects of after school program set-up and clean-up <br>
•printing and organizing attendance sheets and other data as well as helping with registration materials and mailings <br>
•directing the flow of student traffic and organizing student transportation (including monitoring youth on buses/vans) <br>
•aiding in the snack distribution <br>
•communicating via phone and written messages with parents and families <br>
•attending monthly program partner meetings <br>
•facilitating recruitment and special events <br>
•registering students and updating data on the program’s online database <br>

Required qualifications: <br>
•Desire to work with middle school youth in a positive youth development atmosphere; <br>
•Creativity, patience, a good work ethic, and a sense of humor; <br>
•Previous work history with at least two years of experience; <br>
•Experience working with youth; <br>
•High school diploma or GED. <br>
<br>
Desired qualifications: <br>
•Proven experience in youth development and community-based programs; <br>
•Previous experience working in a licensed childcare program; <br>
•Bilingual Spanish/English skills (or other languages); <br>
•Knowledge of Providence and the AfterZone communities; <br>

Before hired employees can begin, they will be required to have background checks, TB testing, and a physical. The position will start in early September, and is seasonal employment when schools are in session. Parents of Providence public middle school youth are encouraged to apply. Hourly wage for the position ranges from $8.50-10.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and the hiring agency. Positions range from 16-25 hours per week. <br>
