Welcome. For your consideration is a vintage Mid-Century oil seascape painting by Canadian/Caribbean artist Pamela Wright (20thc.). This original impressionist oil painting was completed on canvas and signed by the artist on the lower left, Pamela Wright. The painting was not dated, I am estimating the painting to be from the 1950's-1960's time period. This painting is in overall very good vintage condition. Under a black light it shows no signs of paint loss, in-painting or repair.

As for the artist, Wright studied art as a child and later at the Doon School of Fine Art in Ontario, Canada. Pamela moved to the Caribbean in 1964 and established a studio gallery in the heart of St. John's, Antigua. Wright produced commissions for several hotels, painted backdrops for Antigua's Carnival and completed a mural for NASA, which is now in the USA.
Pamela was a founding member of the Antigua's Artist Society and served as President for four years. She taught art classes, wrote an art column for a local newspaper and influenced many local artists including Cadman Mathias and Euston Tongue. Pam established a second studio gallery in Monserrat, where she worked for three years before assisting the Government of Antigua in establishing the first National Arts Exhibition. In 1976 her work was featured in North Light Magazine.
Pamela moved back to Canada in 1982. While she produced numerous watercolor paintings of the Caribbean life, she is best known for her earlier works in oil. This vintage impressionist seascape is an excellent example of her work, it will make for a welcome addition to your collection!
Unframed the painting measures 16" in height x 20" wide and it is paired beautifully with a handsome quality wooden frame, together it measures 23" x 27". The vintage frame has a depth of 2" and is in overall very good condition consistent with its age.
