Very nice Miyata Six Ten Touring bike.
Beautiful dark blue paint with shiny alloy wheels.
18 Speed Shimano drive train with a low granny gear for climbing hills and
Shimano cantilever brakes for stopping power with a loaded bike.
25"/63cm frame that should be good for a rider between 6'- 0" - 6'- 4"'
It has plenty of room between the forks and seat stays for fatter tires.
Has period correct Jim Blackburn rear rack.
The bike was refurbished, new brake cables installed, tuned, lubed: derailleurs and
brakes adjusted and new cushioned bar tape installed.
This touring bike has triple-butted splined Chromoly frame tubing that was manufactured with the same technique as the piping used for guns. It was bored out lengthwise using a round steel rod. This produced a very unusual quality tubing for use in bicycles. This bike is slightly lighter in weight than Trek 520/720 touring bikes, but of similar quality. The Miyata 610 was considered one of the finest, lightest off-the-shelf touring bikes of its time, with splined, triple-butted chromoly tubing. The 610 is flexible yet stiff to provide a competent platform for loaded touring, but it’s just as adept at comfortably wandering the backroads on a Sunday afternoon.
