A Guerciotti Sprint road bike that I purchased new in March 1988 (original sales receipt shown in photo #24).
I rode the bike for four years, then stored it for eight years, then rode it again for several more years and it has been in storage since 2009.
Back problems have constrained my use of the bike during my years of ownership, and so except for the seat, steering stem, and pedals, the components are all original, right down to the Campagnolo brake pads! (I saved the original stem and pedals, which will be provided to the buyer (photo #22).
The frame was built by ALAN, a pioneer of screwed-and-glued frames, in other words the tubes were threaded into the lugs and also bonded with glue. These bikes were built up to well under 20 pounds, lighter than anything else at the time.
The frames tend to be flexy, which provides a smooth, comfortable ride. If you're a lighter rider and/or desire comfort over stiffness and sprinting capability, this is a great choice for you. Not recommended for riders over 200 pounds (My maximum weight was 145 pounds).
I have read that because of the shorter frame reach and the forgiving ride on these frames, some have been refitted as cyclocross bikes fitted with cross brakes.
Components and frame dimensions:
-Campagnolo Victory/Triomphe group set
-Frame size is 60 centimeters, which I measured from the center of bottom bracket to the top of seat tube
-The bicycle shop bill of sale (photo #24 also states 60 centimeters as well) the bottom bracket states 58x57
-The frame should fit someone of a height between around 5'10" and 6'1"
-Relatively short top tube at 57 cm, so if you have a long leg, short torso build, it may work for someone even shorter
-The letters and numbers CORSA275 are stamped on the seat tube near the top end of it (photo #23)
Other Points about Frame:
-Fork features the Guerciotti star pantographed on the crown tops
-Guerciotti name is on the head lug
-Anodized red main tubes with bare, shiny aluminum lugs
-Colorful and era-appropriate decals
-Top-tube cable guides are cnc aluminum.
-Rear lugs are unique with large holes cut out of them
-Fastback-like seat stays stand out
Other Points:
-New Continental 5000 tires have less than 50 miles of use
-Some fading and tears on decals and a few small chips on paint (see photo #23). Can provide more close-up photos if requested, as the maximum allowable number of photos are posted here
-Criterium-type handlebars
-View and pick-up in bicycle in Wakefield, RI. On occasion I travel to the Providence area.
