All original 1962 Humber Sport 3 speed English bike: Sparkles! - $500 (Warwick)

“ The aristocrat of bicycle” This wonderful and stunning bicycle has had only one owner and she took amazing care of it as a child. Since then, it has been hanging on a rack untouched in storage for 60 years.
Initially covered in dust, (see last pictures for comparison) I have lovingly and meticulously cleaned, brushed, buffed and polished every component and surface to a sparkling, perfect working order. Nothing has been replaced. It retains all the original components with original "North Road" upright handlebars, grips, pedals, tires, stems, tubes and all moving parts. It even includes the original tire pump, brake pads, cables and unique 2 spanner wrench set; I used them to take it apart for cleaning!
I also cleaned and gently restored the original wide, spring mounted adjustable seat and even the rear seat storage satchel!
It is remarkably free of rust or corrosion except for a few original scrapes and scratches here and there from normal riding back in the 60’s! The original paint, chrome and all shift, cable and gear components are in excellent condition. I had the gear box, shift components and hubs professionally adjusted and properly lubricated by an English 3 speed expert, so this beauty works just as it did when it rolled off the line in 1962.
The tires are the original English Dunlap Champion 26" x 1-3/8” tires with remarkably very little wear beyond a mild crazing. The tires spin true, quiet and smooth and have been cleaned with armor all rubber protector; the original tubes have been tested to 50 lbs. tire pressure and roll very nicely. Even the rims are in like new condition. It even still has the original rubber tube covers for the metal valve stem screw-on covers. The spokes are solid straight and clean. All The chrome is in amazing condition and the gears shift effortlessly.
The brake pads are the original rubber pads and due to age are a bit stiff. I might suggest new pads for a better grip, but they still work well.
This sturdy English bicycle was designed for serious utilitarian road use along country roads, pathways and particularly in urban stop and go traffic as it can be shifted even when stopped because, unlike a derailleur model bike, shifting is actually done with without pedaling with a simple click of the 3-speed thumb trigger on the handlebar. The sturdy rims, fenders and solid construction allow for riding in all kinds of weather. The sealed hubs and gear box each have a small plastic fill port to easily maintain light lubrication and to keep this Humber "Humming" in style and sophistication for years to come!
