Please note that the engine cover is off a newer engine, and I have the "15hp" designations taped off, this is a 1979 Johnson 9.9hp. I found this engine in fairly nice condition, but went through all systems anyway.
Removed powerhead/gearcase/cylinder head and thermostat cover/exhaust covers. Inspected pistons and cylinders, all in good condition. Cleaned carbon, replaced all gaskets, checked thermostat. Checked upper water tube grommet, replaced upper engine mounts. Checked gearcase, pressure tested, replaced water pump. The pictures will show that someone had a fin or some other foolish accessory on the gearcase which explains the extra holes. Cleaned most threads, treated fasteners with sealer so future service needs will be simple, this engine is all set up for salt water use.
Cleaned and relubed mag plate, checked all ignition components
Cleaned and rebuilt carb, replaced fuel lines, rebuilt fuel pump
Replaced starter rope
Cleaned and lubed fittings, tiller, and throttle linkage.
Everything works as it should, only OEM parts used.
This is a nice little engine that will provide many years of trouble free use with minimal maintenance
Sorry, tried to upload a video of the engine running, but iphone updates won't cooperate, will happily text that to you. Please call or text with any questions or for further information
