There used to be more opportunities to unexpectedly meet new people. You’re waiting for the train and you talk to someone on the platform, who ends up being your friend or maybe even business partner. That happens less when we’re online. I’m posting this to create, in some small way, an opportunity for that sort of chance meeting to take place.
Here’s a bit about me. I get up at 5:00 or 6:00 AM and go on a run, six days a week. Every few days I also do chinups and pushups before the run. I come back, have breakfast, and typically watch something I find interesting, like videos about semiconductors, rocketry, or ancient history.
Then I sit down and work. I write for business owners. Looking at their websites and figuring out what can be improved, what's not working, and writing pages that help people understand what the business does. I’ve learned a lot about different industries doing this. I like to tackle projects in a methodical and logical way.
I have been learning about AI, not always enthusiastically, but it would be counterproductive to ignore it.
I started writing years ago for fun, and before switching to it professionally, I worked in gardening and on farms. I’ve always liked learning about plants, and particularly enjoyed growing potatoes and sunflowers. I still grow house plants, but where I live, there’s no space for a garden. There is something satisfying about growing your own food. I cook 99 percent of my meals and have gotten my standard dinner down to a science.
Once I’m done working, or on weekends, I’ll put time into reading and working on some art. This year I’ve been reading books that I’ve been thinking about for 15 years but just haven’t read for one reason or another. Five down, two to go. These are mainly big sci-fi books. I’ve taken a couple breaks to read about Tamerlane and some Euripides, but will definitely finish my list this year.
For art I mainly like to make masks, though I will occasionally do a sculpture or book cover project. I’m attaching a few pictures.
