Camp JORI is seeking a passionate and experienced sous chef. As a sous chef, you will assist the head chef of our camp in overseeing all aspects of food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen management while fostering a positive, team-oriented environment in an overnight camp environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production and service delivery
Work with the head chef to develop menus that are kosher
Oversee food preparation, ensuring consistency, presentation, and adherence to dietary requirements
Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste through effective stock management
Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations
Monitor kitchen operations for quality assurance and continuous improvement in food service
Experience
Proven culinary experience (2 to 5 years of kitchen experience)
Supervising experience leading kitchen teams
Knowledge of food industry best practices related to food safety, inventory management, and food handling
Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team management and development
Experience managing restaurant or hospitality operations including menu planning and kitchen workflows
Strong understanding of dietary requirements and nutrition considerations in menu creation
Previous experience in restaurant management or food service management roles preferred
Requirements:
1. ServSafe certification
2. Positive attitude, an ability to work well with others
3. Extensive culinary experience
4. You must relocate to Wakefield, RI. We provide free room and board on site
Pay: $900.00 - $1,100.00 per week
