The Production Operator is responsible for supporting safe, consistent, and high-quality production by properly operating machines, performing inspections, and completing required documentation. Operators play a critical role in maintaining quality standards, traceability, and ensuring only approved parts move forward in the production process.
Job Overview
Machine Setup & Operation
• Receive daily job and press assignments and set up machines per work instructions
• Follow first-off and first-piece requirements and operate presses safely throughout the shift
Quality Inspection
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections at required intervals
• Identify, contain, and report defective or nonconforming material per procedures
Documentation & Traceability
• Complete required inspection records, press logs, travelers, and bin tags
• Ensure accurate part identification and material traceability
Housekeeping & Maintenance
• Perform routine machine and area maintenance, including oil and scrap management
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and handle parts to prevent damage
Skill Development
• Utilize basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gages, and pins to support inspection activities
• Training on prints, customer requirements, quality alerts, and inspection procedures consistently
• Training in fundamental toolmaking techniques and machining operations
