Fulford Manufacturing Visual Inspector’s primary objective is to support the Quality Department by ensuring all production parts meet visual and basic dimensional quality requirements before release to production or shipping. This role contributes directly to product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with internal and customer standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Overview
Quality Inspection & Compliance
• Ensure production parts conform to quality standards through 100% visual or sample inspections in accordance with Control Plans, work instructions, and quality alerts
• Detect and identify visual defects such as burrs, cracks, dents, scratches, surface finish issues, discoloration, or missing features
• Prevent nonconforming material from advancing in the manufacturing or shipping process by ensuring only acceptable parts are released
Documentation & Traceability Accuracy
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely inspection documentation, including inspection logs, scrap logs, and defect slips
• Ensure full traceability by recording part numbers, lot/bin identification, and quantities inspected, accepted, and scrapped
• Maintain proper green-tag traceability and documentation for approved material
Defect Escalation & Containment
• Promptly escalate quality concerns to Quality Control or supervision to minimize risk and downtime
• Support effective containment by tagging, segregating, and placing suspect material in designated areas
• Assist with sorting, re-inspection, and containment activities as directed
Safe Part Handling & Workplace Organization
• Handle parts and materials carefully to prevent cosmetic or functional damage
• Follow PPE, glove usage, and handling requirements to prevent contamination or rust
• Maintain clean bins and a well-organized inspection area in accordance with established procedures
Skill Development
• Utilize basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gages, and pins to support inspection activities
• Training on prints, customer requirements, quality alerts, and inspection procedures consistently
• Follow standard procedures and proactively think of ways to improve the visual inspection equipment
