This is the early 6G6A circuit featuring the GZ34 tube rectifier. Fender switched to a solid state rectifier soon after. The amp is in excellent condition cosmetically and functionally. Only minor issue is some popping upon startup that goes away after about a minute. All original transformers and choke with 1961 date codes. The 6516 Triad power transformer is a hold-over from Fender’s Tweed amps.
It has new power supply filter capacitors. A mini-potentiometer (non-invasive) was installed at some point allowing the power tube bias to be adjusted. All new tubes throughout! Nickel cup washers on the back panel screws. Oxblood grille cloth. The brown spots on the tolex are “bleed through” of sap in the pine wood used to build Fender cabinets. Commonly seen on blonde Fenders. Original brown dogbone handle is in excellent condition. Included is a reproduction handle as well. Brown faceplate is in very good condition including all lettering. Excellent original logo, the amp also has all its original hold-down hardware for piggyback cabinet mounting and original metal feet.
The only part missing is the sheet metal plate that goes over the cabinet’s handle recess hole. A grounded power cord has been installed. Also included is the original gray Pacific Electric power cord. BP00959 serial number stamped into the back of the metal amp chassis. Original white paper tube chart, missing some pieces but what is there is in decent shape. Also including a padded TUKI amp cover.
Only recently acquired and I have been enjoying it but something else that I've wanted for much longer has become available so away this goes. So please note that I am using the photos from the listing of the seller I purchased it from because they are great and the condition has not changed at all.
