Job Title: Summer Youth Counselor

Location: Portsmouth, Rhode Island


Job Summary:

As a Summer Youth Supervisor, you have the ability to impact a youth’s life in just one summer. Being a part of the Boys Town Summer Enrichment Program is sure to create a memory that lasts far past a summer. You may experience the emotion of watching a kid start to believe in their self through a life skills project, or even bond over a small connection such as a creative culinary interest. This job is a fantastic learning opportunity if you are interested in working with youth and can be considered an internship through several colleges.


Train and supervise youth in a variety of activities, including work-related, recreational, and academic that develop life skills.
Ensure youth safety by encouraging proper use of tools and appropriate peer-relations.
Assess expectations and conduct appropriate training for youth.
Evaluate youth progress.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Previous work experience, preferably with youth.
Ability to communicate in a professional manner, while maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to make quick decisions in sensitive and sometimes critical areas and to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
