Clarus MS-35 35mm camera rangefinder for sale
Produced by Clarus of Minnesota from 1946-1952, This camera is made in 1950
This camera has been film tested with good results and is in working condition
with a minor glitch, when pressing the shutter button you need to press down fully and hold for a second
in order to let the shutter plunger mechanism set itself or else you are not able to advance the film advance knob.
The camera does work fine as long as this is done.
You need to make sure you set shutter speed only after you advance the film to next frame. This is required per manual.
(which can be downloaded at Butkus.org)
I would place this camera in average to very good condition as per chart on collectiblend website
The Clarus Company only made this one model camera for 6 yrs then went out of business because of lack of sales.
The history and story about this company is fascinating and can be found online, do a search.
That alone is what made this a collector for me. They are fairly rare and hard to find in good working condition, since the first couple years of production were disasters, hence the poor sales. This model is the 4th revision/bugs worked out.
I have shot 3 rolls of film on this camera since I found it years ago. Now it is time for someone else to have it.
