Christopher Columbus (Rhode Island)

Regarding the recent vandalism on the statue in Providence in protest to alleged crimes against the natives when the subject landed on the shores of this continent. I actually was not there so back in 1492 who was there to document the alleged "Genocide" and survived it and recorded it so that that now we have proof positive that this
actually occurred . NOTE I am not disputing the claim but when two distinct members of two distinct cultures meet
together for the first time and most certainly not able to verbally communicate with each other and probably both armed with weaponry . What set off this tragic incident and why would would when meeting for the first time was
there an impulse on Columbus to wipe them out when the object would of been to be nice so to speak and start a form of communication and mutual understanding . Just Curious !
