The Packard Motor Car Company was an American luxury automobile manufacturer that produced high-quality vehicles from 1899 to 1958. They were known for their prestigious airs and innovations like air conditioning, modern steering wheels, and one of the first 12-cylinder engines. They flourished during World War II, producing supercharger engines for Rolls-Royce and US Navy PT boats. Starting out in Detroit, Packard produced their final car in South Bend, Indiana, after merging with Studebaker in 1953 and phasing out the Packard brand by 1958 due to struggling sales.

Side-mounted mirrors were strapped to the side-mounted tires that rested behind your front wheel on both sides of your vehicle. They were initially used as an aftermarket accessory in the 1920s and 1930s, becoming a more common car accessory in the 1950s. These Packard mirrors, however, are an original accessory to Packard, making them ahead of their time.
